Birds In A Gilded Cage

Trying to make sense of it all
And how I fit into the puzzle
If life is a tapestry
With whom is the weaver I struggle

For the world seems but a web at times
In which us mortals are caught
With spiders presiding above us
Oppressive overlords

Conflicts and wars
Pepper society
When all the majority desire
Is peace, love and harmony

But the prominent pacifists die:
Lennon, Jackson, Marley…
Those that are left behind
Bereft find it hard to keep trying

To bring about the change
Overdue, still out of reach
The majority are discontent
Disillusioned at this defeat

When the balance will shift
I simply do not know
But something has got to give:
We reap what we sow
